Finals, finals, finals, finals. I’ll be interesting in a week or so, I swear.
(Also, I really need a job this summer… I’m a fast learner and relatively smart, so holler at me if you need extra help with uh, pretty much anything haha)

See yall on Sunday? I hope I make it back okay…
Also, WHAT AM I DOING?!
Josh Venable, the DFW dj responsible for the best radio show ever: Josh’s Adventure Club.
I discovered KDGE and Josh during the middle of seventh grade, and my life (and love for music) was changed ever since then. (Read: I heard The Smiths.) I put him on almost every Sunday evening from seventh grade untill I moved out of Texas. By the time senior year hit, he was one of the only reasons I would turn on the radio- there was always a great playlist, a band I haven’t yet heard of, and some amazing Adventure-Club-only performances.
He has since left the area (fuck you, Clear Channel), but the Adventure Club is still going strong in LA, every Sunday from 7-10 pm WST.
Charles Mingus - Eat That Chicken
Originally I was torn between his gorgeous Goodbye Pork Pie Hat or the classic Better Git It In Your Soul. Both songs are from one of his most versatile and famous albums, Ah Um, which has now become essential repertoire for a great jazz collection.
But also essential in the sense that everyone who listens to jazz has probably heard these great tunes, so I opted for something a little different.
Although Eat That Chicken doesn’t show off his amazing bassist skills (for that, try Take the A Train. His solo starts at about 7:50), it definitely is an excellent example of how freaking fun jazz can really be. Listen and try not to smile.
Want more Mingus? Check out his rendition of A Foggy Day and a ton of other great recordings on last.fm and hype machine.

That is such a badass thing to say hahaha. (via Drudge Report)
